19 June 2013 -Dr. Danilo Yanga celebrated his 65th birthday which also marked his retirement after serving 40 years as a faculty in the institute. A simple candle blowing event was held to observe this important day for a dear mentor and scientist.
A beloved professor who balanced high academic standards with humor and laughter—Dr. Yanga is an inspiration to his students and a valuable contributor to the scientific community.
Dr. Yanga received his doctorate in physics from the University of the Philippines-Diliman in 1986. As a theoretical physicist, his work on the topic of Quantum Field Theory and Condensed Matter Systems resulted to publication of high quality scientific papers in international journals.
Dr. Yanga served as Chairman of the Department of Physics in 1979 and was the Dean of the College of Science from 1994 to 2000.
