THE NIP LIBRARY, COLLEGE OF SCIENCE UP DILIMAN
The NIP Library (National Institute of Physics) is one of the eight satellite libraries being established by the College of Science Library, UP Diliman. The library started to operate last April 14, 2011. Currently, the collection consists of 969 theses, 1196 books, several print journals and access to online journals through the university’s online journal subscription. E-books are also available at the library. Collection’s emphasis is on physics; other science related collections are also included especially mathematics and other physics related subjects.
Underway project for the library is its institutional digital collection. Full text online access to the institute’s faculty publication, theses, and online journals among the few, will be included in this database. You may check us up for updates regarding this project.
NIP Library is under the National Institute of Physics, College of Science, UP Diliman. NIP is considered to be the best school in physics in the country. It is also declared as “National Center of Excellence” in physics education through Executive Order of the President of the Republic of the Philippines.
Mission
To provide library users:
- the best possible access to information (specifically physics related information) that they need in support of instruction, research and extension; and,
- the best possible information services through the use of the new information and communication technologies (ICTs) as applied in libraries.

- NO food or beverages are allowed inside the library
- Electronic Resources Policy
– Use of database content is governed by copyright and vendor license agreements.
– Contents should be restricted to academic research and teaching only.

For borrowing privileges, students are required to obtain a UP webmail account at the start of the semester, through the UP Computer Center, Located at the UP Alumni Engineers Building, Magsaysay St., UP Diliman, near the Engineering Sundial. Undergraduate students
– 5 circulation books for 1 week
Graduate students
– 10 circulation books for 1 week
Research, Extension and Professional Staff (REPS)
– 10 circulation books for 1 week
Administrative Staff
– 5 circulation books for 1 week
Non-UP users
– Room use only Note: When borrowing, please make sure you don’t have an overdue loan(s). If so, you may not be allowed to borrow another book unless you return the book(s) and pays the fine.
