NIP/2015.11.04 — Research professors from the National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) of Taiwan visited the various institutes of the College of Science (CS), UP Diliman last November 4, 2015. In a previous engagement, some of the Taiwanese physics professors participated in the Physics Congress of the Samahang Pisika ng Pilipinas held last June 3-6, 2015 in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. During their stint in the Philippines, the Taiwanese professors had also a research lab tour at the National Institute of Physics.
The main objective of the present visit is to forge new collaborations with the other College of Science researchers and also to strengthen collaborations with NIP physicists. The Taiwanese professors were first welcomed by UP President Alfredo Pascual and VPAA Gisela Concepcion at the Quezon Hall. Then they proceeded to NIP where they were received by CS Dean Jose Maria Balmaceda and Directors Roland Sarmago (NIP), Marian Roque (IM), and Flerida Cariño (IC) and some NIP Faculty. The group then broke out into specific disciplines and visited the respective institutes to discuss possible future collaborations.
